A Fungia plate coral is a single-polyp, free-living LPS coral known for its round, disc-shaped body and radiating ridges. It comes in bright colors like green, orange, pink, and purple. Unlike most corals, it isn’t attached to rock and can move slightly across the sand. Hardy, fast-feeding, and great for beginners, Fungia thrives on the sandbed with moderate lighting and gentle to moderate flow. It inflates at night and can extend long feeding tentacles to catch meaty foods.
